(MG4) Mike Garrigan Band
mg4
(The Mike Garrigan Band) is a 4 member original rock band hailing form Greensboro, NC.
When front man Mike Garrigan was recently asked what his band is all about, he replied "Pretend Michael Stipe of R.E.M. put on about twenty pounds of raw muscle and fronted Toad the Wet Sprocket. That's what we sound like."
Consisting of Mike Garrigan (vocals/guitars), Mark Kano (guitars/vocals), Jeremy Cannon (drums), and Mike Mitschele (bass), it's not hard to see why mg4 might be one of the best original bands currently performing in the Carolinas. The band has a brilliant history together. They toured together under the leadership of Mark Kano as the 11th hour line up for the Greensboro based band Athenaeum, who in 1998 had a Top Ten Billboard Modern Rock Hit with the song "What I Didn't Know."
Individually, the members boast quite impressive resumes. Mike Garrigan fronted the band Collapsis who in 2000 reached #28 on the Billboard Modern Rock Chart with the song "Automatic." Jeremy Cannon has played drums for numerous notable bands including Tonic and The Connells. Mike Mitshele, or Big Mike as he's known, played bass for the band Jolene and is involved in several different projects including Film School and The Alternative Champs.
Currently, mg4 has plans to record an EP for a summer 2004 release.
When not performing as mg4, Mike Garrigan and Mark Kano also perform Athenaeum and Collapsis songs as an acoustic duo. If you are a fan of either band, you won't want to miss one of these shows!
