Professionalism and maturity definitely shows in every aspect of their performance. The members played together as Uncle Kiljoy for three years. With the departure of lead vocalist Rodney Harper, the members decided to continue as a three-piece band, changing their name to Groovepatch in 1999. Their self-titled debut "Groovepatch" CD was released in April 2002. It was recorded at Flat 5 Studios in Salem, Va. The CD is generating a buzz in the industry and has peaked interest from several record labels. With songs showcasing diverse styles, it seems to be a record with mass appeal.
In January 2004, the members were reunited with Uncle Kiljoy vocalist Rodney Harper. They now perform together as Groovepatch doing songs from the Uncle Kiljoy CD, as well as the Groovepatch CD. The years of stage experience definitely shine through and show in the band's incredible tightness. Fueled by the powerful vocals of Rodney Harper & guitar wizardry of Sammy Adkins, the band is quickly emerging as a top-notch act. With their funkified, rock solid groove, the rhythm section of bassist Brad Melton and drummer David Williams provide a melodic driving force. Dynamic and disciplined, the band turns heads and ears everywhere it plays.
